MUCH ADO ABOUT SOMETHING

The collective wisdom of the Indian media considers the present IPL embroglio as a great national disaster facing the country. To a lesser man like me , and I am sure to other lesser humans like me , constituting a majority of the country’s population, there are  other more serious disasters facing us-farmers suicides, attack on 5 and 6 years old kids, inflation , power crisis , cross-border terrorism , et all. Maybe I and others like me are too old fashioned to be concerned more with human tragedies and erosion of human rights, and the struggle for existence faced by many of our people. I too, like many of our fellow countrymen, am an ardent lover of cricket having watched the performance of all time greats in the hallowed grounds of Brabourne , Chepauk and the Eden garden.
The Indian media has always had a great tradition of high ethical standards but recently, after the IPLs scam it is felt that not only is too much time and space spent on this edition of IPL disaster ,but the media appears to be on a witch hunting spree. The fifth estate is the watchdog of democracy, but please do not sink to the level of a hunting dog, on the prowl. My humble appeal, please do not take upon yourself the role of a judge, jury and executioner. Report all the news ,by all means , but please do not create news and above all please do not create scapegoats.
