CHENNAI EXPRESS - TAKE A TRIP DOWN SOUTH

Ah!!!!!!!!!! Chennai Express !!!!. Now what do I say? Is it silly? Yes it is very. Is it stupid? Absolutely .Is it a typical bollywood masala flick? Yes ofcourse... So why am I even writing on a subject like this ? From all  media reports it is evident that it has broken all box office records. The reports may be rigged,I am not sure of that but from all account it seems to be a runaway hit. So were Ek tha tiger and 3 idiots both were superhits and I did not like both films.
So what was special about Chennai Express . Yes, one could say that my affinity  with Chennai (since I come from Chennai) probably made me, go and watch the movie. And I was sure that it was all about making fun of the so called madrasis and my beloved Chennai. So I was armed with all profanities to dislike it.
What a surprise!!!!!! From the word go , it was a hilarious roller coaster ride with enchanting waterfalls and captivating visuals. There was the usual love story between a north Indian boy and a south Indian girl but what  made it so unusual was the mixture of Hindi,Tamil and English dialogues. There was enough tamil dialogues to pass it off as tamil movie and enough Hindi dialogues to pass it off as Hindi movie. And there was no attempt to translate any of the dialogues into any language . It was essentially an Indian movie. I guess every Indian, be he from north, east, south or west,  would atleast  be able to converse in three languages. He would definitely know his mother tongue, Hindi and little bit of English or English and little bit of Hindi. I would say that this is the first Indian movie with no language barriers for the common man.
Patriotism, Family Values and Love are three things that makes an Indian from any part of the world emotional. And these were  endearingly  potrayed in the movie. What with Dadaji’s asthi , freedom of women in the 67th year of Independence and young love crossing all demographic and geographic barriers. No wonder it is a runaway hit .  The caricature of scenes and dialogues from Shah Rukh khan movies  was hilarious. One could not stop laughing. The great Indian Railways  which forms an essential part of an any great Indian sojourn was beautifully captured in the lens and the landscape ,be it DudhSagar waterfalls or Pamban bridge, were  visual delight.
What else does  one need to forget his routine worries  and anxieties  and enjoy few hours of pleasure with family?
