However old we grow, the magic of story telling has always kept us entranced and has motivated us to think, dream and recreate heroes and villians. The art of story telling has also evolved over the centuries from Bards and epics to puppet shows, from drama and silent movies to motion pictures and television. But we never get tired of listening ,reading or watching well woven stories. Right from listening to our grandmothers' fables to feature films we have always loved well narrated tales.
Today, the medium that has kept us spellbound, is television. It has overtaken all other forms of narratives. The visual appeal is instant, reaches wider audience and the impact is more strong. Various dramas that are shown on TV have instigated drawing room debates and television stars have massive fan following .The technical quality has improved immensely and producers do not shy away from investing into big budget projects just for television .
So I was an avid watcher of shows like The Practice,J.A.G and The bold and beautiful. Then there was this phase when I intermittently watched serials like Geet hui sabse paraye and Ipkknd. I enjoyed watching these shows and also became a fan of Dhrashti and Sanaya. But none of the shows kept me enthralled like the one I am going to write about. So let us see what is so magical about this one.

When I watched the first episode of Rangrasiya , I thought to myself 'hmmm not bad but too much violence' then I could not watch the serial because of a bereavement in the family and I had to rush out of station. One night after I came back, I was sitting in front of the television with a bored attitude and restless remote and kept surfing till, all of a sudden I stopped. There, in front of me was the beautiful and helpless Sanaya in her red bridal attire facing the male Protagonist of the show Rudra Pratap Ranawat. He had his gun trained on her in the backround of a barren desert and I got hooked . I just could not take my eyes off the screen.Next morning as soon as I was free,I turned on my laptop and watched all the previous episodes of the show online.
What is so special about this story that it keeps popping into my mind while I am grocery shopping or at work or travelling, ensuring that I do not miss a single episode. What has kept me mesmerised to this show? I often wondered, then I realised that it is the PaRud world that has kept, all of us, in a trance.

Rudra and Parvati 's love story has been unfolding so beautifully that it is like reading a chapter of Bronte Sisters classics after every episode. The sprawling haveli adds to the haunting quality with its lighting and interiors.Tumbling out of the closets are dark secrets in the family that keeps adding to the intrigue.Be it the quick witted and venomous Mohini or the cynical but kind Dilsher or the selfish and little stupid mama's boy Sumer or obedient but with a mind of her own Maithili , they have all managed to impress us with their own brand of individuality and acting skills.Strong characterisation along with powerful dialogues have left their own impressions of these actors.
Now coming to the main leads, Sanaya's (I call her small screen Sridevi) any new serial with her as the lead, creates little bit of a stir so it is no surprise that she has excelled herself here with her portrayal of the innocent but strong and stubborn Parvati. All of us love Parvati but the surprising element here is Ashish Sharma. Never watched him before ( later I searched and watched few episodes of Rab se sona ishq,Gunahon ka devta ) but now I think every woman who watches RR (aged16 to 60) is little bit in love with Rudra. Ashish is a brilliant actor who has brought Rudra to life so beautifully that I find every male lead in other shows pale in comparison to Ashish. One of the sexiest actors , his eyes speak volumes and the camera is obviously loving him. His ruggedness and gallant macho image along with little bit of vulnerability that he shows only to his Paro is in perfect contrast to the innocent ,petite and fragile but bold and strong willed character of Parvati that Sanaya plays. They complement each other so profoundly that every scene that they come together on screen is awaited with bated breath by the viewers. Such is their chemistry that they have managed to weave a world of their own and more and more viewers want to be part of their world. Together they are setting the small screen ablaze with their passion, intensity and potency. Like any riveting novel, the story and characters have evoked many emotions in us. When Rudra broke down in office we all cried a bit, when Dilsher was set on fire, we spent sleepless nights fearing for his life and their Jaipur trip gave us so much happiness !!! And Finally Paro and Rudra made us fall in love with Rangrasiya. Now it has become an obsession!!!!!!
I am sure all fans of Rangrasiya agree with me.
Thank you Colors TV,Saurabh Tewari,Gautam Hegde and Raj Nayak for giving us a PaRud world and making us dream and believe in love once more.
